As per IBM’s global higher education study, 73 percent of India’s education influential’s said that innovative technologies are distracting higher education. However, 59 percent find it complicated to maintain applicable curriculum. On the same side 56 percent of the respondents feel powerless to offer affordable access to education in India.

On the same grounds, an outdated curriculum is challenging India’s higher education levels to furnish graduates with job ready skill sets. Both advanced technologies and techniques are needed to improve this scenario and prepare these graduates to swiftly fit in the real world work environment. This can be done by introducing experience based and practical learning experiences in higher education set of courses.

By adding more realistic, functional, practice based learning and creating deeper relationships with the real world business and technology ecosystem are some of the important recommendations for bridging the skill gap in India were depicted from the study.

The study points out the need of combination and an indirect venture between higher education bodies and industry associations for involvement in learning strategies. It also suggests acceptance of technologies that can advance better educational access, practices and realistic results.

Lack of communication interface between the educational domain and industry came out to be an evident reason for the present scenario with 54 percent of the respondents saying this as a tricky challenge for Indian higher education system. With that, 52 percent even held responsible the inadequate teaching resources for the scenario.

Awareness to innovative technologies and ever changing industry skill requirements is hurting India’s higher education systems as they are not being updated in current curricula and even are not involved in class room teaching.
